How does the reference number help track my shipment?
While creating a shipment, it is possible to generate a reference number or name that may contain numbers and/or letters, or can be your job number, purchase order number, bill of lading number, or just a work group identifying the shipment. To track the shipment using this reference number, visit the Tracking page in the UPS website and find out “Track by Reference.” You can now track your package by entering your reference number, selecting the date of shipping, and indicating whether your shipment is a freight or package.

What is the meaning of the phrase Next Expected Tracking Event?
UPS displays the day and the Next Expected Tracking Event date for shipments that are expected to remain in transit for over a day between two tracking scans, in their website’s Shipment Progress section. Please note that this is not an indication of a delayed or halted shipment. This status only means that the label of the shipment has not be scanned for some time.  This display is just to inform a customer that his/her shipment is on track, even though there may not be any new tracking scans.

Why does my package appear to be stuck?
There is no need to worry because your package is within the network of UPS. The delivery of the package will be done as per schedule unless you are otherwise notified.  Information related to the movement of shipping is captured every time a scanning of the tracking label is done in the delivery system of UPS. In   case of cross-country or international shipping, there may be a gap of several days between these scans.
