What Does USPS® Do With Letters Addressed to Santa Claus or God?

Customers may be interested in what the U.S. Postal Service® does with letters addressed to Santa Claus or God. Different postal districts may handle them in various ways. For example, letters may be sent to the district Consumer Affairs office. Local businesses and major corporations are recruited to volunteer their services to answer those letters in a non-committal manner. Some Post Offices™ participate in “Operation Santa” during the holidays to respond to letters.  "Dear God" letters are sent to Mail Recovery offices or local churches.
