What does USPS do with Undeliverable Merchandise and Magazines?

Undeliverable product samples and publications such as magazines, newspapers, and other periodicals can be impartially and equitably donated to:

  • Public and charitable organizations, shelters, hospitals, prisons, schools, and libraries.
  • A court officer for the use of persons called for or assigned to jury duty.

Note: Undeliverable books and sound recordings are not eligible to be distributed using this program

Product samples and publications can be provided to qualifying organizations under the following conditions:

  1. The recipients do not select the character, quality, or type of publication,
  2. The recipient calls for the copies promptly when notified or on a schedule.

This privilege is at the option of the Postal Serviceā„¢ and may be discontinued at any time without notice.
