Fees and Payments

  • The COD fee is determined by the amount to be collected OR amount of insurance coverage desired (whichever is higher). Go to https://www.usps.com/ship/insurance-extra-services.htm and select “Show Details” under Collect on Delivery (COD) for additional information on COD fees.
  • Recipient may pay by cash, pin-based debit card, or a personal check or money order made payable to the sender. (Sender may not specify payment method.)
    • If payment is made by cash, then a money order fee is included in the collected amount.
  • The fees for COD include insurance against loss, rifling, or damage to the article or failure to receive a postal money order or the recipient's check.
  • Remittance (payment) is sent by First-Class Mail® service.
  • You may report delays in remittance / payment (more than 60 days for domestic mailings) by contacting 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777).
